It’s an honor to have been named Tech in Motion’s 2019 Best Tech Startup. Winning the “Community Favorite” award means GetUpside came out on top in our region after more than 40,000 votes were tallied.

Given the modern, hyper-efficient shopping experiences we have online, it’s natural to ask if brick-and-mortar businesses have become obsolete. We created GetUpside to level the playing field. We’ve brought personalization to the offline world, giving shoppers more value for their dollar and helping businesses become more profitable so that everyone wins. That’s how we help maintain the brick-and-mortar spaces that encourage closeness between neighbors.

And our plan is working! Our hardest hitting stats speak for themselves: 17x growth in 2018 alone, millions of users on the GetUpside platform, tens of millions of dollars earned in cash back, top-10 travel app next to brands like Yelp and Southwest Airlines, 4.8/5 stars in the App Store, 4.5/5 stars in the Google Play Store, over 10,000 participating merchants nation-wide, and more than 70 people on our team world-wide. What’s even crazier is that this is just the beginning. 

With such a great team, we’ve created an office culture that makes it fun to come to work every day. We celebrate one another with virtual tacos instead of “high-fives,” because one is obviously better than the other. We bake personal cakes for all 70+ birthdays because it’s important to make each one of us feel special. We host regular board game nights because we’re nerdy. We are deliberate about building a diverse workforce because we value the richness that different perspectives bring. We hold regular “lunch-&-learns” so our sales team can see once and for all that Python is not just a species of snake. And we all turn up to our CEO’s “Ask me anything” live sessions because...who doesn’t love to anonymously grill the CEO? 

In everything we do, our actions are aligned with our mission to help communities thrive. As a team, we are incentivized to support local brick-and-mortar businesses, just like our app users are. It puts us in touch with the community around us and helps merchants earn more. GetUpside is based on mutual benefit, and we carry that with us in all that we do, from launches to lunches.
