GetUpside has hired their first Chief People Officer, Kristen Thiede, to lead the company’s people organization as they continue significant hiring through 2020.
Kristen has spent her career connecting people, projects, and ideas to build teams and scale businesses. Prior to GetUpside, Kristen recruited, hired, trained, and led teams of hundreds of people across offices and continents at companies like Two Sigma, Starry, and Google.
“The teams I’ve built achieved their most impactful business outcomes when they were built with a ‘people first’ perspective; with supportive organizational structures that enabled happier, more productive humans,” said Thiede. “At GetUpside, we’ll work in partnership with the extraordinary people we have to think deeply about our paths forward and about whether our structures provide support for our exponential growth.”
GetUpside has on-boarded more than 70 new team members in 2020 alone, and maintains ambitious hiring goals through the rest of the year. As GetUpside grows, the company is focused on ensuring employees continue to get the opportunities and the training they need to grow in their positions — positions that are constantly changing as the company continues to scale.
“At GetUpside, our team is our most valuable resource. We wanted to work with someone who not only understood this idea of ‘people first,’ but who embodied it. Kristen is that person,” said Alex Kinnier, GetUpside Co-founder and CEO. “Kristen is the only candidate we spoke with who we felt could do the things we know we need to do for our people AND lead our leaders to deliver as much value for our team as we do for our users and merchants.”
